I
hated days like this.
Everything seemed to be going wrong. Things between me and Nikki were akward after this morning . She always tried to avoid me after I pulled some stunt like that but, by monday she usually forgets all about it and things are fine. The day was almost over and I was just glad at that. English was the last class of the day and I sat next to Nikki. This was usually my favorite part of the day. Sitting so close to her, I loved just being able to stare at her. Today, I just wasn't even in the mood to talk to her. I overheard something about her date tonight and it just wasn't something I really wanted to hear about. Halfway through the class the event that changed everything occured. A week prior, I had gone to the doctor's to get some blood tests. Strange enough, those test results were delivered to me during class. A man in a suit held a thick folder. "In accordance with U.S law, these test results have been delivered to you within 20 minutes of their completion. You have one week to fill out form W-5 where I will then collect it, sir." "Thank-you" I said taking the thick, heavy folder. He quickly glanced around the room and then left. The rest of the class was staring at the mysterious folder on my desk. "Special delivery" Nikki said with that smile of hers. "U.S law?" I mumbled as I broke the seal on the folder. I quickly began to glance at the contents. The first couple of pages was the medical information I was expecting. The rest of the pages were completly foreign to me. Various brochures and other information sheets were all packed into this. Each of these sheets just confused me more. The final sheet, form W-5, just plain shocked me. It was a contract. "Oh shit" I said a little louder than I should have. "May I be exused to compose myself" I asked the teacher. I was on the verge of completly loosing it. I left for the restroom, leaving the folder behind hoping that someone else would read it and hopefully understand my problem. I came back a few minutes later with the whole incident blocked out of my mind. Nikki looked at me. "I'm sorry" she whimpered. "Yeah, I'm in quite a bit of trouble, eh?" |
